Dr. Rebecca Martin

DVM, Co-Owner

Dr. Rebecca Martin co-owns Hefner Road Animal Hospital and Pet Resort with her husband, fulfilling a longtime dream of owning her own clinic. Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, she graduated from LSU in 2008 and has since been licensed in both Oklahoma and Texas. With 14 years of experience in the OKC metro area, she has served as both an Associate and in Relief roles.
Dr. Martin’s dedication to animal care is unmatched, stemming from a lifelong passion as a pet owner herself, with four dogs. She is Fear Free Certified, ensuring compassionate care that supports both pets and their owners. Notably, she is among the few veterinarians in the OKC area who attends to exotic animals.
Beyond her veterinary practice, Dr. Martin finds joy in exploring the world, seeking out beautiful and historic places, and savoring wonderful cuisine. Her adventurous spirit extends to skiing, scuba diving, yoga, crafting, boating, and embarking on spontaneous journeys with her husband and beloved dogs.

Co-Owner

Christopher Martin co-owns Hefner Road Animal Hospital and Pet Resort alongside his wife, bringing his lifelong passion for animals to fruition. Originally from Oklahoma City, he completed his high school education in the Kansas City, MO area before embarking on a distinguished career path.
At the age of 17, Christopher joined the US Army while still a junior in high school, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. With a strong background spanning 23 years in human medicine, Christopher has excelled in Operations, Business Development, and Ownership roles, culminating in his fulfillment of owning a veterinary clinic.
Christopher’s love for animals extends beyond professional boundaries as a devoted pet owner of four dogs. His zest for life includes a passion for exploring the world, seeking out beautiful and historic locales, and indulging in culinary experiences. An avid enthusiast of snow skiing, scuba diving, and motor sports, he also enjoys following college and professional football. His leisure activities include boating and embarking on spontaneous adventures with his wife and their cherished dogs.

Elly
Practice Manager

Elly was born and raised in Southern California, where she began her veterinary medicine career in 2015. She started as a kennel tech at a general practice and worked her way into a technician position. She then completed the Veterinary Allied Staff Education RVT alternative route program. Following its completion, Elly worked in Emergency Medicine for 6 years and Internal Medicine for a year before returning to general practice with us at Hefner Road Animal Hospital in October of 2024. Elly is also a Fear Free Certified Professional, so making the Vet’s office your pet’s favorite place is a top priority.
When not working, Elly enjoys spending time with her wife and their three kids. Elly has a passion for fitness and anything outdoors. She enjoys traveling (mostly to the mountains) and going for hikes with her two dogs, a Siberian Husky “ Kibbeh” and an Australian Shepherd Mix “ Stevie.”

Kelsey
Kelsey
Veterinary Assistant

Kelsey is one of our Veterinary Assistants, She’s dedicated to helping us flourish and grow. She has more than three years of experience in the veterinary field and is currently studying at the University of Oklahoma for a B.S. in Biology, with the intent to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
Kelsey has had a passion for animals her entire life, whether they be her own or others who live close to her. She is a very heavy supporter of non-profits supporting strays and community cats and has begun to dedicate herself to weekly volunteering at WildCare Oklahoma.
Outside of her animals, Kelsey is an avid reader and loves to learn, though her favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction. She is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and is thrilled by any activity involving the water; she loves the ocean and would spend every second of her day in the water if she could.

Sarah is a dedicated veterinary assistant with two years of experience in clinical practice. Having had pets her entire life, she developed a passion for animal care at a young age, starting with a pet-sitting business before pursuing a career in animal medicine. She began her career working for a non-profit, low cost spay and neuter clinic and is now happy to be at Hefner Road Animal Hospital to further expand her knowledge in full-service private practice.
She takes pride in her compassionate approach, striving to treat every client and their pets with the care and respect she would expect from veterinary professionals.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, their two children, their American Staffordshire Terrier, Justice, and their leopard gecko, Pete. She has also spent considerable time supporting community outreach programs benefiting both humans and animals.

Veterinary Assistant

Brent is an avid reader with a deep love for epic fantasy. Wheel of Time is his favorite book series, and he’s also a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe. When he’s not reading, gaming is his go-to hobby. He loves the storytelling and immersion some of these amazing worlds can create. He’s also fascinated by the ocean, and the orca is his favorite animal — such powerful and graceful creatures. He calls them danger Oreos! He’s also a US Army Veteran having served for nine years.

Riley has always had a deep passion for animals, a dream that began in childhood and has led to a fulfilling career as a Veterinary Assistant. With a natural ability to make animals feel comfortable and at ease, Riley takes great pride in providing compassionate care to every pet. Having lived all over the U.S. due to her dad’s career in the Navy, she’s developed a unique perspective and adaptability that helps her connect with both animals and their owners. Riley plans to continue her education and pursue her RVT license, with the goal of furthering her expertise and making a positive impact on the lives of the animals she cares for.
Outside of work, Riley enjoys spending time with her mini Aussie, Tuna, taking her on walks and bike rides. She and her boyfriend also love camping and being surrounded by nature, finding peace and joy in outdoor adventures.
